Bachelor of Cyber Security Engineering focuses on protecting digital systems, networks, and data from cyber threats and attacks. It provides fundamental technical knowledge in areas like network security, ethical hacking, cryptography, and risk management, preparing students to design and implement secure systems in real-world environments.

Department Of Cyber Security

SRM Valliammai Engineering College, a member of SRM Group of Institutions, was established in the year 1999. The department of Cyber Security came into existence in the year 2020. The annual intake for the department is 60. In tune with the growing demand profile globally for cyber security professionals the curriculum and the syllabus are rightly upto the core of the day to day necessities and requirements in this field.

The Department started in 2020 is steadily growing in all spheres in terms of:

Student strength, physical Infrastructure, number of labs – subject wise, as per the rapid upgradations introduced by AICTE in the recent times and progressive changes in syllabi of Anna University, Chennai.

Central and Department Library, number of systems in labs, requisite software, organization and establishment of in-house maintenance wing and its training.

Brilliant faculty strengthened through qualification improvement programs, human resources in the form of trained supporting staff, all round quality development programs and operating systems for improving upon the functional effectiveness in the department.

The Department has well-qualified Faculty Members with various specialization relevant for the industry.

1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

2. Problem analysis:Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using the first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.

3. Design/development of solutions:Design solutions for the complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

4. Conduct investigations:Use research-based knowledge and research methods including the design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and the synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

5. Modern tool usage:Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

6. The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

7. Environment and sustainability:Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

8. Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.

It has a total number of 724 books in common out of which 112 are foreign authored books to meet the Curriculum and syllabus of Anna University such as Operating Systems, Computer Networks, Artificial Intelligence, System Software, Computer Graphics, Data Base Management System, Web Technology, Total Quality Management, Microprocessor, Programming languages, Computer architectures, Data Mining, Cryptography and Network Security, Unix, Visual Programming, Python., etc..

Achievements

1. Karthikeyan A of SRM VALLIAMMAI ENGINEERING COLLEGE pursuing in CYBER SECURITY DEPARTMENT, participated in the National level tech AIRO2k21-Quizvid, conducted by SAI RAM ENGINEERING COLLEGE on 22nd & 23rd October 2021 and won the 2nd place in that event.
2. Rakshith DH of SRM VALLIAMMAI ENGINEERING COLLEGE pursuing in DEPARTMENT OF CYBER SECURITY, participated in the National level technical symposium- Master minds(quiz), conducted by Chennai Institute of technology on 25th MAY,2022. He won the 1st place with cash price of Rs.1000 and he also participated Global Cyberpeach challenge 3.0 an International CTF challenge.
3. The team of four cyber girls – Dhakshayani A, BlesslinJaffy R, Vaishnavi Devi R and AafrinNisha A of SRM VALLIAMMAI ENGINEERING COLLEGE from Cyber Security Department have done a team project in Mini-project expo held on 28.9.2021 conducted by our own college and got the First price in the event.
4. Dhakshayani A and BlesslinJaffy R students of SRM VALLIAMMAI ENGINEERING COLLEGE pursuing in Cyber Security Department have done the paper presentation in the event of present-o-mania held on 18th MAY 2022 . The event is conducted in our SRM Valliammai engineering college, and they won the First price.
5. BlesslinJaffy R student of SRM VALLIAMMAI ENGINEERING COLLEGE in CYBER SECURITY DEPARTMENT the one who is engaged in many events of SRM Valliammai Engineering College. She participated in the event of Eclectic Lingua English literary association LINGUATHON-II and won the First place which is held on 05.06.2021. She secured the Highest GPA of the department during the academic year 2020-21.
6. Dhiviyaabharathi J of SRM VALLIAMMAI ENGINEERING COLLEGE pursuing in the Cyber Security Department participated in the event of Critical reviewer Eclectic lingua English literary association LINGUATHON-II, conducted in SRM valliammai engineering college which is held on 05.06.2021. She had won the Third price.
7. AafrinNisha A of SRM VALLIAMMAI ENGINEERING COLLEGE, Department of Cyber Security attended the VIT Engineering College workshop on “How Hackers Hack 2.0.” She received the certificate of participation. The occasion took place on September 19, 2022.
8. Sivasankar RM of SRM VALLIAMMAI ENGINEERING COLLEGE participated in CEH- CERTIFIED ETHICAL HACKER as a student of Cyber Security Department. He was handed the first-place certificate for being an ethical hacker after successfully completing the demanding assignment within the allotted time.
9. Dhakshayani A student of SRM VALLIAMMAI ENGINEERING COLLEGE in Cyber Security Department participated in the event of Eclectic Lingua English literary association LINGUATHON-II and won the Second place which is held on 05.06.2021, Also participated in Eclectic Lingua English literary association BURKE CLUB and won Third place in oratorical competition.
10. Karthikeyan A and Ramesh MM students of SRM VALLIAMMAI ENGINEERING COLLEGE pursuing in Cyber Security Department, won the First price in the event CIPHER HUNT in DRESTEIN’22,13th National Level Intercollegiate Technical and Management Fest held on 18th & 19th November,2022 at SAVEETHA ENGINEERING College.

The White Hatians Club is a technical club under the Cyber Security department. The main goal of this club is to provide a technical opportunity for students to broaden their knowledge in the area of Cyber Security and to interact with other students who have a shared interest in cyber security. Through the club’s activities, members can also network with professionals in the field, gain hands-on experience, and prepare for careers in cyber security. Many events can be conducted to enhance the knowledge of the students in a competitive way.
